If you remember the Ringling Brother’s Circus, you may remember being amazed and enthralled by the spectacle.

While we may not be able to see these shows anymore, we can still see the circus.

Circus Smirkus is a traveling youth circus based in Greensboro, VT and the only one of its kind in the United States.

When you see a Circus Smirkus show, you get the works: a live band, professional tech crew, and around 80 teen performers to dazzle you with their acrobatics and circus skills.

It’s truly a treat for both adults and kids.

Finding a Show

Circus Smirkus performs around the area in VT, NH, and MA. You can see locations and dates for 2018 here.

I went last year with my son in July to Fullington Farm Field in Hanover on Route 10 and had no problem finding it. This year they’ll be at the far again on July 21-22, with shows at Sat. 1 and 6 pm and Sun. 11 am and 4 pm.

You’ll want to get there early as seating is first come first serve. I got there early and already the field was filling up.

The Tent

Inside the tent is bleacher style seating. There’s also a space on the floor in front for kids and parents to sit as well.

There’s so much going on. While one person is doing flips, another group is creating a human tower. There’s always lots to look at. My son was gawking the whole time, even saying horray and clapping (he was 1).

There’s always a theme and each act revolves around the theme in some way to continue the story. This makes the show have continuity while still having variety.

The theme in 2017 was Night at the Museum; these are robbers stealing from the museum.

Whether you have a short attention span or like lots of action and variety, this circus has it. See tight rope walkers, jugglers, aerialists, gymnasts, contortionists, feats of strength, comedic acts and more.
