I’ve had fun making my own bagels, but it is a time consuming recipe and sometimes you just want to eat it, not make it. So where do you get that freshly made taste locally? Try these recommendations.
Goose & Willies. These are hand rolled without dough conditioners or preservatives and delivered fresh daily. Goose & Willies started from a drive-thru cafe and now is a wholesale business. They make your traditional plain, but also cinnamon raisin, garlic, pumpernickel, everything, and more. These are the closest to a NY bagel, one New Yorker commented. Find them at the Hanover and Lebanon co-op, Hannaford in Bradford, Dan and Whits, Lyme Country Store, and Chapman Country Store.
Price Choopper in West Leb. near Michael’s. You can find boiled bagels made fresh here every morning. People say they’re really good.
Bakers Studio Bagels. New York style bagels from a New Yorker. They are really good and I heard they’re the same people that had the shop in downtown White River. Find them at Mike’s in Hartland and the coop in Lebanon. Enjoy them at Lucky’s too. They’re called Best Bagels.
Brownsville Butcher & Pantry.
Bagels from Montreal? Try Blue Sparrow Kitchen in Norwich.
