If you’re looking for fun in the summer (and even the winter) check out Harpoon Brewery and the Cheeseboard, which are both located in Windsor, VT at Arisan Park, right off I91.
Food and Fun in the Sun
Harpoon and the Cheeseboard throw great parties. Lots of people flock to the events they throw and it’s always a good time, but not overcrowded.
You can relax with your beer and enjoy the live music. Try your hand at lawn chess, corn hole, or ‘pasture’ tennis. There’s a play structure with a slide for the little ones as well.
On special days in the summer you can pet baby cows too.
When you get hungry from all the games, grab a bite at Harpoon or the Cheeseboard. Munch on fries or pretzels at Harpoon, inside or outside or you can order a wood fired pizza from the Cheeseboard and taste its gooey goodness in under two minutes. Then finish off your meal with delicious maple flavored soft serve ice cream inside the Cheeseboard’s store.
The fun doesn’t stop there. Come on a Friday evening and watch a family movie. Sundays during the summer and fall you can check out Maker’s Market and sample local cheeses and visit the other establishments at the park for samples too. They also have classes, open mic nights, and yoga. Check their events pages to see times and dates for upcoming events. Harpoon Events Page The Cheeseboard Events Page
Festivals
Want to check out Harpoon or the Cheeseboard’s festivals?
The Cheeseboard hosts the local favorite Mac and Cheese Challenge every September. Tickets are often sold out. Visitors can taste twenty varieties of mac and cheese from local restaurants, stores, and dining facilities. A mac and cheese lovers paradise really.
Harpoon has Octoberfest with German music and food, keg bowling, chicken dancing, and lots of freshly brewed beer.
Want More?
Harpoon does an October road race and a cycling event in August. You can find day trip opportunities as Harpoon travels to other locations to serve their great beer. The Cheeseboard offers cider and wine tastings with their fabulous cheese too. You can even order platters for your events at the Cheeseboard.
Even in Winter
You can still find fun in the winter. Harpoon offers $5 hour long brewery tours, karaoke, release parties for their newest ales, and beer dinners at local restaurants. In 2015 they had a winter celebration for their Long Thaw beer. Fun included an outdoor jenga and fire pit, Great River Outfitters sleigh rides and a snow shoe demo and Paradise sports fat tire bike demo.
Day trip opportunities include events like Apres Ski Happy Hour in Lyme and Patriots Party.
The Cheeseboard offers wine and cheese pairings and cheese making classes. They also partner with Harpoon to do fondue, beer, and bread.
So go check out Harpoon and the Cheeseboard for some relaxing fun anytime of the year. Octoberfest is right around the corner.
Don’t forget to wander over to the other great businesses in Artisan Park while you’re there.
You can find an overview here and local events here. I’ve explored the park and shared my at experiences at Great River Outfitters and their offerings, more to follow.
Have fun!
