Celebrate the Christmas season with a tree lighting ceremony or holiday festival. These dates are for the 2019 season and will be updated for 2020 when dates and times are determined.
Hanover Tree Lighting: Celebrate the Season. This is the place to be this Friday, Dec. 6, 2019! I’ve never seen so many activities put on by a town and its local businesses for the public for the Christmas season. Previous years activities included a Snowflake Scavenger Hunt by visiting stores to collect clues, a visit from Santa Claus at the Norwich Inn, holiday movies at the Nugget Theatre, circus illusions in the lobby of Nugget arcade, sleigh rides. Downtown stores are open for refreshments, raffles, and more. Activities start at 3:30 pm until 8 pm with the tree lighting on the Green at 5 with a performance by Christmas Revels North. More activities on Sat. from 10 am to 4 pm.
Tree Festival in Lyme. On Sat. Dec. 7th, 2019. from 3-7 pm at the Lyme Common enjoy sleigh rides, caroling, auction, live music, hot cocoa and cookies, and a tree lighting ceremony.
Lebanon Tree Lighting. On Sat. Dec. 7th, 2019 from 2 – 5 pm enjoy a visit from Santa and Olaf, carriage rides, music, crafts, and refreshments. There will be a choral group from Upper Valley Music Center at 5 pm and the tree lighting at 5:15. C
Annual Gingerbread Festival. There will be over 80 gingerbread houses on display to admire and purchase from 10 am – 3 pm at Tracy Hall in Norwich on Sat. Dec. 7th. Cost to attend is $5 per person or $10 per family. Kids can enjoy a gingerbread house-making demonstration and cookie decorating. There will be a cafe serving lunch and a store with crafts too
Annual Wassail Weekend in Woodstock. On Fri. Dec. 13-Sun. Dec. 15, 2019 from 10 am – 4 pm enjoy a choral performance by the elementary school, tour decorated holiday houses and learn their history, an equestrian parade, feast at the Woodstock Inn, and Celts Production at Pentangle.
Christmas in Canaan. On Fri. Dec. 13th, 2019. from 5 -8 pm see a Gingerbread house competition, take pictures with Santa, hop on a horse and wagon ride or pony ride, buy goodies at the craft fair, or participate in other activities and crafts, and taste some good food too.
