You’re stuck: you want to give a unique gift and support local business if you can, but you don’t know where to start.
Try a local sweet and treats gift or gift basket.
Here are some ideas of what to get and inspiration on how to package it.
Cool Gift: Local Homemade Sundae
You can get Morano Gelato to go. I hear it’s ranked some of the best gelato in the country!
Grab some homemade ice cream from one of these local ice cream producers.
Add a fun ice cream bowl you decorated from Tip Top or bought on Amazon, some local caramel from Fat Toad Farm and hot fudge.
How to Wrap/Pack it:
Put it in a decorative insulated bag like this, insulated lunch bag, or insulated casserole bag (great for the cook or baker that does a lot of pot lucks or picnics. You can fit the whole gift in one of these bags…
Sweet and Fluffy or Sweet and Crispy : Local cupcakes and Cookies
Grab one or more cupcakes at one of these local bakers. Some have a store and others you order ahead and pick them up. If you’d like to hear about the taste testing, I wrote a post about tasting some local cupcakes. Many also make cookies like MC’s Confections or Cardigan Cakes. For more local baker recommendations see here.
How to Wrap/Pack it:
Use a deep box like this one and put shelve liner in the bottom to keep the cupcakes from shifting. Add a bow or ribbon.
Local chocolates gift basket
I love chocolate! How about giving the gift of local chocolate? Provide a sampling of flavors you think they’d enjoy and maybe some local coffee from King’s Row Coffee. I created a list of local chocolatiers and places to get them here.
How to Wrap/Pack it:
Use a box, basket, tin, or container you think they’ll use again. Fill it with your chocolate selections.
