Recommended Folk and Americana Musicians
Chris Powers
Chris Powers plays all over upper valley from Canaan to Grantham and Woodstock to Lebanon. So hearing him play is easy. You can hear his music on his Facebook page; I particularly like this one.
Jes Raymond and the Blackberry Bushes
Jes Raymond and the Blackberry Bushes is a folk band that travels around the country. Jes Raymond writes the music and sings lead vocals. Her husband plays the fiddle and together they lead the band, Blackberry Bushes. They live in WRJ, so you can see them around.
Reckless Breakfast
Recklass Breakfast is a fun, fast folk band. They don’t have any upcoming shows, but I look forward to hearing them sometime along.
Still Hill
Still Hill is another folk band that plays beautiful music. I particularly liked this video. I hope I can see them in an upcoming show.
Bob Amos
Bob Amos plays mainly in Vermont and has a lot of concert dates scheduled for the Spring and into the Summer.
Since his repetoire is so broad, I thought it best if it came from him:”Bob’s influences as a songwriter are quite varied, and so his songs contain elements of folk, rock, bluegrass, celtic, blues, country, pop and rock-a-billy.” You can see a clip of his music here.
Patrick Ross
Patrick Ross amazes me. He’s an incredible fiddler. You can hear a selection of his music here. He’s one of those musicians you just gotta see. Here’s him playing 6 different instruments!
Brooks Hubbard Band
Brooks Hubbard was originally from Enfield and played locally but has sinced created the Brooks Hubbard Band and now tours the country. If you ever have a chance to check him I bet you’ll like his smooth south and unique lyrics.
Jason Cann
Jason Cann often plays at Harpoon on Thursday nights in Windsor. One person said, “Once you hear him it will be a regular trip for you.” His music is smooth and relaxing, a mix of original and covers.
Whiskey Geese
Whiskey Geese plays acoustic rock folk. Listening to their show sounds like a lot of fun. Impressive instrument playing.
Yellow House Media offers a calendar of local music events so you can see when one of these great bands or musicians are playing.
