Want a taste of Alaska?
You’re in for a treat.
Right here in the Upper Valley you can go dog sledding.
It could be a holiday family tradition or great group activity. It certainly would make a unique gift idea for someone who loves nature or the outdoors.
Braeburn Siberians offers the ultimate dog sledding experience where you can even mush the team!
Braeburn offers excursions that are 30 or 90 minutes on Wed., Fri. and Sat. 90 minutes excursions run at 10 am and 1 pm and 10, 10:45, 11:30, 12:15, 1, 1:45 for the 30 minute excursions.
I know, it’s expensive, but what a great gift idea: create a lasting memory! Chip in with some friends and it’ll be easier on the wallet. Or split it with the grandparents and have a speacial outing together. Save a little bit a month and the sticker price isn’t so daunting and what you get in return is worth so much more than the cost.
90 minute: $340 per sled (2 adults per sled)
30 minutes: $150 per sled (2 adults per sled)
Go alone, as a couple, as a family, as a group of friends; there’s a lot more flexibility than you might think.
Each sled can carry two adults (375 lb weight limit per sled for the dogs to be able to pull).
If you want to go alone, no problem. You can do that.
Often families with kids go and the little ones sit on their parents lap or in the front bed of the sled. Read more about configurations and see pictures here.
Think: pristine snow, river views, and a peaceful sanctuary away from the bustle of life to recollect yourself and rejuvinate.
The dogs love to have cuddle breaks too.
If you want to read what it’s like first hand, Upper Valley Image wrote a great post here.
No snow. No problem. The dogs pull a golf cart or atv specially designed for the experience (without the engine noise of course).
Great River Outfitters used to do tours with Braeburn, but this is no longer available. For more dog sledding information and businesses beyond the Upper Valley check out the Vermont Outdoor Guide Association
