Plainfield is a cozy small town filled with opportunities to slow down and savor fall.
It’s the perfect place to fall in love with fall.
Crisp walks, warm apple cider, sweet and crunchy apples, and activities to make you smile.
Try a day trip to Plainfield and bring home memories too.
Plainfield is the town right below Lebanon. You can meander through it and its long side roads on Route 12A and Route 120, Stage Road connects the two.
The perfect fall activity complete with a corn maze, apple picking, Mac’s Maple maple creamees, pick your own pumpkins, farmstand, wagon rides, a view of river and more.
Mac’s Maple is a working farm. See the cows, grab some tasty maple treats, and kids can play on the play structure too. My son loved seeing the farm equipment.
This is a must! Fill your day with smiles as you drive to find the Pumpkin People during the month of October. You never know what you’ll find but I’ll guarantee they’ll be creative!
Look at the map or just take a drive; I recommend the loop of Rt. 120 to Stage Road to Rt. 12A. Bean Road and Main St. by Kimball Union Academy at the blinking yellow light usually has good ones too.
Tree line streets with stately brick buildings lead you to a lovely woodsy walk at the Helen Woodruff Bird Sanctuary. This walk is a lesiurely quick 3o min. loop in the woods.
If you’re looking for amazing views, hike Frenches Ledges! The view from the top is one of the best scenic views in the area, perfect for that fall photo.
At Garfield Smoke House take some smoked cheese and meats home with you. Delicious!
Try Poor Thoms Tavern for dinner. Excellent staff, cozy but spacious, and fabulous food. Try the chicken with garlic parmesan.
For something quick or lunch, Annie’s Convenience Store has a lovely place to sit and people rave about her home cooking.
Or head back up to Lebanon for an elegant dinner at Three Tomatoes, a casual fare at Salt Hill Pub, or international cuisine at Thai Orchid.
