Try a Beer or Wine Dinner

Hand selected beers or wines paired with delicious food.  This is the wonder that is a beer or wine dinner.  Enjoy a four or five course meal with a beer or wine after each course: a couple appetizers, an entree, and a dessert.

Where can you have these around here?  Plenty of places!

Some offer them frequently, and others only occasionally, so check the local establishment’s events Facebook page to see when the next one is.  The first link is to the restaurant’s website.

Not a local?  No problem.  I would try the places who often have beer/wine dinners and are also close to other ammenities: Latham House Tavern, Pine, and Inn at Pheasant Lake.  You could even schedule your get-away when they’re having a special dinner and try another tour to see how our local breweries and distilleries make their excellent products.  You can see a list of local distilleries and breweries here.

Latham House Tavern, Lyme.  I hear this place has an excellent ambience.  It’s on my to-try list.  They often have beer dinners, so I would try here first if you’re looking. Facebook

Courthouse Restaurant, Newport.   I always enjoy the food here. The Courthouse often has beer or wine dinners.  Facebook.

Inn at Pheasant Lake, New London. This cozy inn on Pheasant Lake in New London has wine pairings with their five-course meals, but they also have wine dinners.  Facebook.

Pine, Hanover.  This restaurant sits right on the green in Hanover as part of the Hanover Inn.  People rave about the food here, so a beer or wine dinner I’m sure would be excellent.  One local concurs: “PINE at the Hanover Inn has great ones.”  You can have a three course meal with wine pairings.   Facebook.

Hungry Diner, Walpole.  Two locals recommended this establishment. It’s “more casual for sure.” and the other commented: “Place is amazing.”  Facebook.

Simon Pearce, Quechee.  Elegant, excellent food, and attentive service.  Always our special occasion go-to.  They have wine dinners as well.  Simon Pearce often has events.  Facebook.

Bistro Nouveau, Grantham.  I had my wedding reception here and it was wonderful.  This restaurant has great sweeping nature views.  Facebook.

Norwich Inn, Norwich. One local states: “Norwich Inn does a beer dinner …it’s a whole weekend…but locals can go in for just the dinner on Sat night. If you go to their website it will tell you when they are.”  Events page

Poor Thom’s, Plainfield.  Love the food and atmosphere here.  Garlic parmesan chicken with sauce oh my!  They’re open daily for dinners and occasionally have beer dinners.  Facebook

Salt Hill, Hanover, W. Lebanon, Lebanon, Newport, Newbury.  Facebook Lebanon.

Harpoon Brewery, Windsor.  One local said: “Harpoon will often do a special pairing dinner when they have new 100 barrel series.”  Facebook.

Cloudland Farm, Woodstock.  This farm has farm to table dinners on the weekends.  You can also hike the Appalacian Trail that runs through the property.  Experience bucolic beauty in the rolling countryside.  Facebook.
