The Montshire has the outdoor area to have lots of fun, but where else can you go to let little ones explore in shallow water?
Here are some ideas we’ve loved.
Lebanon Wildlife Management Area

Lebanon Wildlife Management Area is right off Route 12A on the right. It’s easy to miss. It’s shortly after Trues Brook Road. There’s a black and yellow reflector stripe on a bridge. It’s right next to that. There’s parking down the dirt road with a mix of sun and shade. We even saw crayfish! Featured image photo is of Lebanon Wildlife Management Area.
Erwin Clifford Park
Erwin Clifford Park in Harford is an excellent place to wade and spend a morning or afternoon. There’s a playground, field, pavilion, and lots of shallow wading fun. You can even grill there if you want.

Goodwin Exercise Trails
There are two trailheads to the Goodwin Exercise Trails.
One is on Route 120 immediately behind the Welcome to Lebanon sign is the parking area to the right. This is short five minute walk to a little dirt patch and place to wade next to a waterfall. We like skipping rocks here.

The other entrance is at Storrs Hill Ski Area. You park at the ski area and walk to the left you’ll find a trail. Keep going straight (past the big bridge) and you’ll see the trail forks left after a hill. The trail that goes left goes down to the water. Keep going straight and you’ll eventually be across from the spot above looking at the waterfall from a different angle.

Brookside Park
This is an awesome little park with a half hour or less trail loop. Enjoy a picnic or sit on a massive rock and dip your feet in. We haven’t wandered into the water here yet but have seen people who have enjoyed it. You can read more about our adventures here and the trail here.

French’s Ledges
Take a hike and cool off in the water. This is a great place to wade.

Of course there are beaches to enjoy too for fun wading like Enfield Beach and Lake Sunapee.
What other places would you recommend for shallow water fun for little ones?
Happy cool down time!
